From Italian Cuisine Roots to Mini Burgers:
What a “Delicious World” it is for Galileo

Pizza al Talgio is new from Galileo.

A passion for culinary authenticity, as well as a commitment to its Italian roots, have defined the success story of the La Vecchia family and its enterprise, Trierweiler, Germany-based Galileo Lebensmittel GmbH & Co. KG. Many of the company’s successful products honor its Mediterranean origins and are based on original recipes.

So it comes as no surprise that recently Galileo announced the debut of yet another Italian-style specialty: Pizza al Taglio. The pizza concept enjoys its greatest popularity in Rome.

Galileo is certainly going to keep its passion for things Italian in the future, assured Steffano La Vecchia, managing director. At the same time, he told Quick Frozen Foods International, “We have considerably expanded our product portfolio in geographical terms.”

In past years the company’s Italian originals Bruschetta and Mini Pizza have been joined by specialties from other lands. They range from Mini Tarte Flambées from France’s Alsace region, to American Wraps and Mini Burgers.

“There is a conspicuous trend toward pop-in-your-mouth miniaturization of food products, and we are one of the first frozen food suppliers to meet consumers’ wishes for convenience products in the finger food format,” said La Vecchia.

Galileo’s most recent launch in this category is Mini Burgers, which come in two varieties: Mini Hamburgers and Mini Cheeseburgers. Both made a splash at the Anuga in Cologne last fall, and have been welcomed by the market.

“Once again,” said the managing director, “our driving force is consistent devotion to original recipes, the principle already turned Galileo Mini Pizzas into the leading private label product in the category.”

One possibly unexpected impact of this expansion of Galileo’s product range is on the company’s marketing strategy. In the past it consistently communicated typically Italian associations. That is now changing, as it further embraces internationality and the “Delicious World” of tasty food specialties from around the globe.
