Agrarfrost, a leading European frozen potato producer headquartered in Wildeshausen, Germany, has officially launched operations in China.
“As the first German producer to enter the country, we have begun to meet rising market demands with an approach unique to the industry,” announced Managing Director Manfred Wulf. “By leveraging our unrivaled supply assurance guarantees on high-quality products and establishing a local sales support infrastructure, we have quickly grown our network of distributors and importers in China.”
Since arriving in the PRC in May of 2009, Agrarfrost has wasted little time in bringing to bear 40 years of industry expertise for the benefit of its local partners. Drawing on its integrated potato cultivation system, which guarantees product supply and champions sustainable farming practices, Agrarfrost is delivering consistent, high-quality potato products to China’s rapidly expanding foodservice and quick service restaurant (QSR) industry segments.
“Demand for safe, top-quality potatoes in China has never been higher, and we saw specific market needs here that Agrarfrost is in a unique position to fulfill,” said Wulf. “To do this, we established a strong support organization for our distribution partners on the ground through which, together, we are able to provide affordable, world-class potatoes to Chinese consumers.”
China’s $30 billion food industry has enjoyed annual growth rates of 15% over the last five years, and the China National Food Industry Association expects that market demand for imported foods will reach or exceed RMB 1 trillion in the next five years.
To position itself for such unprecedented growth prospects, the Agrarfrost China organization, under the leadership of international account manager René Hermes (rhermes@agrarfrost.de), is working closely with Crowne Ventures, an established Shanghai-based food agency that focuses on the development of consumer markets and customized market entry strategies in China. Because of the positive market response to Agrarfrost, the company also has begun exploring potential long-term, localization partnerships in numerous regions across the PRC.
With its first product shipments having arrived in China earlier this year, Agrarfrost aims to build new distribution partnerships at both the upcoming FHC China convention in November, and the annual SIAL China exhibition in 2010.
